“I would not have put that line in there,” he said. “It was a mistake.”
Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever heard an Obama team member, past or present, admit a mistake before. I suppose this one was simply too idiotic to defend, as it should have been common sense to Obama that his party needs to distance itself from him in order to improve electoral chances in November. Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if the president doesn’t realize that at all, given his daftness in general when it comes to his own celebrity. It may have been a mistake politically, but it was also a rare moment of honesty from Obama that Republicans have welcomed…while David Axelrod and other Democrat talking heads have had their faces quite prominently planted in their palms.
Interestingly enough, it wasn’t the only political mistake Obama has made in recent days. Take a look at this, specifically around the 1:09 mark:
That’s a new DCCC video in which President Obama proclaims, “Most of our Democratic voters aren’t even aware there is an election on November 4th.”Way to talk down to your own party (yet again), Barack! If Dems didn’t already have enough of a reason to stay home next month, that insult will probably put a few of them over the edge.
Side note: Is it just me, or is Obama looking more and more like a Madame Tussauds wax figure every passing day?
