It is officially the political silly season.
It’s usually the Republican candidates that can’t stop shoving their own feet in their mouths on the campaign trail. You know the names. But the 2014 election season has produced a litany of Democratic candidates who’ve made one forced error after another. This time, it’s Democratic Senate candidate Amanda Curtis who carelessly confessed that Obamacare caused her healthcare costs to skyrocket. The worst part is that Curtis delivered the ghastly gaffe during a debate with incumbent Montana Senator Steve Daines (R)
“I know that the ACA is not perfect,” Curtis said. “I have traveled over 8,000 miles across the state listening to Montanans who are experiencing problems with delay of care and the costs of their insurance.”
And in a terribly timed attempt to emote apathy, Curtis said “I actually have had the experience of having my healthcare plan rise in cost. So I’m feeling that myself.”
It’s okay to laugh at Amanda. She doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell at winning this race.
A Real Clear Politics average of all political polls has Curtis being clobbered by Daines by a depressing 19 points. And Amanda Curtis’ isn’t the first time a Democrat has publicly admitted that Obamacare has raised their insurance rates.
Last month Rep. Gene Green (D-TX) admitted in a televised House committee that his healthcare cost had doubled due to Obamacare.
Amanda Curtis says she wants to reach “across the aisle” and reform Obamacare. She’ll have plenty of time to do just that after she gets creamed on November 4.
