• Blustering Beckel: Why (Still) So Silent on Jason Mattera?

Hey, remember when Blowhard Bob Beckel said he wanted to kill Daily Surge’s publisher, Jason Mattera, on live television for “ambushing” former IRS chief Lois Lerner? That was on October 8th. Moments after Schmeckle called Mattera a “lousy, lying, un-American punk” and challenged him to pick the time and place to have his ass kicked — and to “bring a knife” — Mattera happily obliged to offer himself up for an appearance on The Five. But now, more than two weeks later, there’s still been nothing but The Sound of Silence. Despite direct tweets from Jason and phone calls from Jason’s publicist to Beckel’s producers, Bobby B is pretending not to hear any of it. In other words, he’s all suspenders and no pants.

Even Beckel’s giggling co-host, Greg Gutless — er, Gutfeld — has been uncharacteristically mum on the whole affair, despite the fact that he’s the one who started the anti-Mattera attacks.

On a quest to determine what Beckel could possibly be talking about that’s more interesting or newsworthy than a debate about journalism and the free press, I decided to tune in to The Five for a couple days this week. Among the segments I discovered were in-depth discussions about which celebrity belongs on a Wheaties box, and whether Matthew McConaughey is good in romantic comedies. But not a segment to spare, apparently, for Beckel to back up the challenge that he himself issued.

Since a Beckel vs. Mattera debate clearly isn’t going to happen as things stand currently, Young America’s Foundation (YAF) has now gotten involved with an official invitation to Robert “Bob” Gilliland Beckel:

Young America’s Foundation has extended an invitation to liberal pundit, Bob Beckel, to debate New York Times bestselling author and Foundation alumnus Jason Mattera.

This invitation came after Mattera released a video of him questioning former IRS official Lois Lerner. This video went viral and was discussed on The Five on Fox News. During the show, Bob Beckel challenged Jason Mattera and even threatened him for his “interrogation” of Lerner.

Since the heated display, Mattera has tried to take Beckel up on his challenge and debate Beckel publicly–but Beckel has yet to agree. It is our hope that Beckel will agree to participate in the event and that a lively debate will be had.

I’m not holding my breath here, but at least there’s now a formal invitation. I honestly think Beckel is scared, and this time, I don’t mean that in an insulting way. He probably knows he’s not intellectually equipped to handle the likes of Jason, a bestselling author with an unbelievable resume for a guy at any age, let alone one almost 30 years younger than Bob.
