  • Watch GOP Congressman Steve King Read “Mean Tweets”

Taking a page out of late night funny man Jimmy Kimmel’s playbook, Iowa Congressman Steve King (R) has released a video of himself reading several “mean tweets” he’s received from folks on Twitter.

Turning hate into humor, King can be seen reading several social media screeds. “How did someone so delusional & anti american get elected to office? Your the problem we have to fix,” @kensgal3 said.

“Y-O-U-R!?!” King fired back. “You’re the problem, you’re illiterate. ‘Your’ rhymes with Common Core, which is where your education must’ve come from,” King responded.

The congressman’s wife Marilyn King jumped in to add a double dose of fun. “People just sit down and write these things?” she asked, before reading more mean tweets aloud. “You are a sad excuse for a human being,” she read. Laughing alongside her husband, Mrs. King said “I’ve been saying that for years.”

Congressman King is seeking his seventh term in Congress. His opponent is Iraq War veteran Jim Mowrer. The latest poll has Congressman King up by 11 points in his solidly conservative 4th Congressional district.
