On Capitol Hill today, Jill Tahmooressi finally had a chance to be heard. She’s the mother of Andrew Tahmooressi, the U.S. Marine who is still languishing in a Mexican prison, more than six months after being unjustly detained on the heels of a simple wrong turn and supposed “illegal weapons.” There are a lot of hearings in Washington every week, but this one may have been the most compelling in a long time. It was low on theatrics…and high on the truth.
The Tahmooressi case has been quite frustrating to many lawmakers due to his medical condition, which is not being properly treated while he’s stuck in Mexico. He’s thought to have PTSD, as well as ongoing issues related to the loss of his legs, which occurred after he jumped on an IED to save his brothers in arms.Since you probably weren’t able to sit through the hearing, which went on for over two hours, we’ve decided to collect for you the top six moments.
