• Watch Russell Brand Try (and Fail) to Break Into Fox News

I’m starting to really feel bad for Russell Brand. He’s a likable enough fellow — or maybe it’s just his splendid English accent, I don’t know. But it just seems like everything he does turns to crap. His movie career failed. His television career failed. His marriage failed. It looks like his attempt at being an author is failing. And his latest series of web videos have essentially been long, preachy, unwatchable disasters, as he spends the entirety of each installment ripping Fox News and little else. It’s as if he has made it his new life’s mission to single-handedly destroy Rupert Murdoch’s empire. Only, it’s not working. At all.

Brand’s internet serial is called “The Trews,” which I’ll admit is kind of a great name — a mashup of “true” and “news.” If only that’s what it really was. The videos are usually filmed inside Russell’s home or in the back of a limousine, and they always include clip after clip of Fox News segments, interspersed with Russell’s own commentary, as he dissects each and every talking point in tiresome fashion.

For his most recent stunt — clearly an attempt to sell copies of his new book — Russell headed straight for the News Corp. building and attempted to weasel his way right into Fox News headquarters. After agitating security by filming on the premises, he claimed to have been booked to appear on Hannity for an interview that was canceled. But according to Sean Hannity’s producers, there were never any plans to have him on. The actor/comedian was promptly kicked out.

Hannity tweeted to Russell shortly after the incident, “I heard you were lurking around Fox today like a deranged creepy stalker and begging to be on the show. Thanks but no thanks, Mr. Katy Perry. Too much serious stuff going on in the world.” Sean later removed the tweet, probably so as not to engage in a tedious back-and-forth with the Brit. But no worries, because Brand has since been keeping busy in a Twitter war with Donald Trump.

You can see the entire episode above, which really just comes off as embarrassing and pathetic for a guy that clearly has some talent…if only he would use it in a better way.

Fox has history in broadcasting that spans two decades. From his early days as an FM host and club DJ in the mid-90′s to his later experiences in political talk radio, he has always had a knack for combining topical news with his love for popular culture. Those experiences culminated in his position as executive producer for several radio shows featured in the TALKERS Heavy 100. Originally from New York, Fox has made the great pilgrimage down to sunny south Florida.
