Hell Freezes Over: Chris Matthews Proclaims That Democrats Are Way Too “Hard Left”

Wow, so that happened.

I’ve always been under the impression that MSNBC hosts are like dogs — you can’t teach them new tricks. But apparently, one of their most ideological employees has just broken the mold. I’m still trying to figure out whether this is Chris Matthews beginning to show some semblance of common sense…or whether it’s merely the early stages of dementia. After all, he was lamenting last night that ISIS should have been a bigger 2014 campaign issue, essentially implying that it would have been a winning platform for Democrats. At the moment he made that observation, I began to question whether the Hardball host is starting to crack.

And then, this happened.

“Nancy Pelosi has been a good team player, but you gotta stop being a little hard left here, and we gotta get some things done here,” said Matthews in one of his most shocking proclamations yet. Indeed, when one of the most liberal voices on cable television believes you’re too “hard left,” there’s a problem.

What on earth is going on here? Is Chris Matthews finally doing some soul searching? Is it a cynical ploy to reposition his precious Democrats to perform better next time? Or has his brain finally collapsed into Amish potato salad? We may never know.
