No man should ever be caught wearing a fanny pack, but that’s exactly what happened to 22-year-old Yotemeli Sayer, who was locked up on a charge of punching a cop during a rally at the Staten Island Ferry’s Whitehall terminal on December 4 to protest the Eric Gardner grand jury decision.
Cops say an hour and a half later, he allegedly attacked another police officer at a different “I Can’t Breathe” protest on 14th street near 8th avenue, for which he was arrested.Police seized his fanny pack before throwing him in jail.
When he tried to recover it at One Police Plaza, the NYPD’s headquarters, last week, officers arrested him for the first assault.
Cops used video footage (see above) of protests to determine that Sayer, while wearing his fanny pack, had assaulted two cops at two different protests on the same day.
Moral of the story: If you’re going to try and get away with slugging a cop, don’t then try to recover your belongings at a police station, let alone at NYPD central.
But then again, no one has ever accused these agitators of possessing critical thinking skills. In any event, serves the guy right for wearing a fanny pack!
