• SURGE Artist Profile: Cat Beach

The life force and esthetic understanding that Cat Beach transports to music is a perpetual enjoyment. She has a knack of creating an attitude of empowerment while still managing to tackle the big issues — life, love, loss and longing — in a way that feels straightforward and appealing instead of heavy-handed. Fused with her unadulterated husky tones and articulations that are refined yet, salted with an unfussy nuances, and splashes of saucy undercurrents. Cat Beach is sure to bring on that sigh-inducing frame of mind we all need to escape to now and then. She is one of those rare artists who is capable of transcending any genre.

Daily Surge recently caught up with Cat Beach and asked her how her music is enlightened by her worldview.

Here is what she had to say:

I have the great gift of doing what I love for a living. Inspiring people through body transformation and through music. Both are my true passions. Move and music. I am really more of a core gal. This is what I mean by that statement. If you at your core (your body and mind) are not healthy and in a good forward moving place life around you seems to stop or be painfully difficult to get through on daily bases. The human body and mind are what allow us to make good decisions make it through a tough business go, go, go day and give back to those around us.  I believe that inside every human being there is an athletic spirit and special person here for a reason. My daily job is to help you find that while building muscle tissue to help you become lean and the best version of yourself.

My other passion is music. I love to write and perform. It brings me great joy to hear someone affected by my lyrics or performance of a song. My first album was called ‘Love Me Out Loud’

Love Out Loud Cat Beach came from a true changing place. A moment in my life where I transitioned from being in fear to being in faith…. It was a dark journey filled with pain, panic and anxiety…but the writing day after day and recording out in LA with some masterful musicians and producers was tremendous medicine for me. It made me stronger and deeply transformed. Through the music, I received countless messages of people who also needed to feel free do to fear.

The music has brought me full circle. So together the music soothes my mind and the fitness keeps my body strong and athletic. I practice what I preach. I too at one point was over 220 pounds. I know the journey back personally. I know that life is about choices. I believe that if people are told the truth and they understand the consequences of not achieving their best selves, not just financially, but spiritually they will change. They will become the life changers themselves. They will go out there in life and make new improved things happen. We desperately need people to get beyond themselves and out there doing more to help a failing system.

But how can we ask people to do that when they barely make it through their own day without being in horrible physical and mental pain? How can we ask a broken falling machine to fix another broken failing machine? Start at the core first. So this all leads me to tell you about our new project. My colleague, Sally Garcia, and I are back at it going out there and paving some new road in Nashville and hopefully beyond. We have worked together for years on music, hosting and fitness. We are commonly known as SallyCat and now we are in the process of raising funds to record a brand new extended play of seven songs through a crowdfunding campaign.  We have done so much music together but never recorded together. We decided to team up and create music to empower people. The extended play is entitled ‘Celebration Under The Sun,’ and it’s got a little of everything, from spicy to smooth!

We decided to combine our love of fitness and music.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The American Obesity Treatment Association.
