• In Which Russell Brand Finally Gets Called Out for His Wealth Hypocrisy

For someone who rails against the evil rich, Russell Brand is certainly enjoying his lavish lifestyle…and he’s finally being confronted about it.

I’m not interested in talking to you about my rent, mate,” the performer told reporter Paraic O’Brien, after being accused of being part of London’s rent problem. With rents there currently up 11 percent, income growth in the region isn’t managing to keep up. After being sold to new owners, the New Era housing estate is planning to evict tenants who can’t afford a $3,000 per month premium. Russell claims to be standing with those tenants, but his own proclivities for the luxurious seem to be in conflict with his message.

I’d say I’m part of the solution,” Brand claimed. “People coming together to amplify the voices of ordinary people, that’s what’s needed. It’s snides like you, mate, undermining. You’re a snide,” he insisted, as he huffed away — but not before enlisting the help of a woman who supports Brand’s mission to defend him.

After several failed Hollywood movies and a canceled television show in the U.S., it’s thankfully safe to conclude Russell is once again Britain’s problem, not ours. But don’t expect him to go away anytime soon. The internet is a vast playground for his tedious ramblings to continue for years to come.
