There’s nothing wrong at all with the Affordable Care Act; it’s simply a branding problem…or so claims former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who was widely responsible for the program’s epic failure of implementation.
“Obamacare, no question, has a very bad brand that has been driven intentionally by a lot of misinformation and a lot of paid advertising, and I think we may need to call it something in the future different, but it is working,” Sebelius insisted during a Politico question-and-answer session.“Not only are people getting coverage, [but also] the largest drop in uninsured rates in this country, the lowest healthcare cost growth in this country ever recorded,” she continued. “So, it’s actually doing what it’s supposed to do and creating a competitive market for people who had no choice.”
Well, maybe Kathleen is right. Perhaps the name “Obamacare” doesn’t fully encapsulate all that the Affordable Care Act has to offer.
Might I recommend renaming it the “Unaffordable Crap Act”?
