Were the details of the General David Petraeus affair leaked intentionally by the Obama White House in order to prevent him from speaking out about the Benghazi terror attack of 2012? Louie Gohmert has a theory, and it’s not a pretty one.
During remarks on the House floor, Gohmert suggested that the administration used the Petraeus extramarital affair to its own political advantage, essentially blackmailing and muzzling the decorated general into staying mum about any inconvenient truths that would have disrupted President Obama’s phony narrative about what took place on that fateful day.“This administration knows that General Petraeus has information that would virtually destroy any credibility that the administration might still have nationally and internationally,” Gohmert said. “So what else would this administration do but leave over his head for over a year and a half the threat, ‘We’re going to prosecute you, so you’d better keep your mouth shut.'”
He added, “That’s where we are now in America. It may have been the kind of administration Richard Nixon dreamed of, but he knew he could never get there.”
The Justice Department is now considering bringing charges against Petraeus for allegedly leaking classified intelligence information to the woman whom he was having an affair with.
