  • Gowdy Delivered a Pretty Awesome Floor Speech Against Obama’s Executive Overreach Today

Can someone please explain to us again why Trey Gowdy isn’t running for president? This former lawyer and highly respected Republican Congressman from South Carolina was on fire during a floor speech earlier today.

The House of Representatives voted to overturn President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, which have angered many conservatives, in addition to some members of his own party who aren’t completely comfortable with the tactic he chose in pursuing unilateral amnesty.

Well, before that big vote, Gowdy had a chance to have his say…and it was about as epic as you’d expect a Trey Gowdy speech to be. It was so animated, in fact, that for a moment, we actually confused the U.S. House of Representatives with the British House of Commons.

The same document that this and all presidents swear to defend gives this body certain tools — tools like the power of the purse,” said Gowdy, as he encouraged his fellow lawmakers to defund the president’s actions. “It’s about damn time we use that tool.”

Check out a clip from the spiffy congressman above.
