• Here’s The Worst Way To Start 2015

Perhaps the worst way to start a new year is by being crushed to death by hundreds of people, all of them trying to be the first to pick up fake money thrown from a nearby building.

That’s exactly what happened late last night in Shanghai, China.

China’s government-controlled media cited several witnesses who said the money was falling from the top of the building “like snow.”

“It’s too cruel,” said Cui Tingting, 27. She picked up some of the fake money and quickly realized it was counterfeit.

“People in front of us had already fallen to the floor, and others were stepping all over them,” she said.

One man who was rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated said the money was being tossed and it was all a part of the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The stampede left at least 36 people dead, and more than 40 people injured.

Listen, I’ve seen some strange New Year’s celebration rituals (in fact, here are several of some the weirdest ones you’ll ever see). But this whole trowing money into a crowd of people in one of the most densely populated places on earth, is beyond me.

Talk about an unhappy new year.

    Here’s to a safe 2015.
