When President Obama met with a Tulsa Brownies troop back in May, he was asked by one of the little girls to wear a tiara…and he actually allowed himself to be photographed doing so.
You’ve undoubtedly seen the picture by now, as White House photographer Pete Souza has gotten a ton of hits to his Instagram account since posting it. But what has never been quite clear was the story behind the picture…until now.
Yes, Obama was *asked* by a young girl to don the tiara. But we’ve now learned from Souza himself that Barry loved doing it.
“There was not much urging at all,” Souza told MSBNC this afternoon. “I think he said something like, ‘This picture’s just for us.’ So, you know, now it’s being shared with everyone.”
It kind of makes you wonder if Obama is outraged that his own photog would leak the questionable picture. Or perhaps he’s simply relieved that his secret is finally out, and he can relax knowing that the world is fully aware of his penchant for dressing like a Disney princess.
“I thought it showed a very human side of him,” said Souza. “He just has a lot of fun with babies and young kids, and I think he just got caught up in the moment that, well, if they’re wearing their tiaras, he’s going to wear one too.”
Of course, Barack Obama isn’t interested in photo ops, as we all know. But he’ll make a special exception if it means he can be his true self.
Now if we could only track down some footage of Barry singing “Let it Go” in his full Elsa costume…
