• Guess What Holder Calls His Biggest Failure?

In a Sunday appearance on MSNBC, Attorney General Eric Holder said his “single failure” in office was failing to push through gun control.

“You once said the worst day in office was the day that you had to walk through the bloodied aftermath” following Sandy Hook, Melissa Harris-Perry said to Holder. “Children were slaughtered in their classrooms and we have not made any meaningful progress on changing the access to guns in this country. Are we a nation of cowards when it comes to guns?”

To that Holder said, “Well, I’ll say this, walking through the school was the worst day I had as Attorney General. It is, I think the single failure that I point to in my time as Attorney General, that I was not able to convince Congress to really follow the will of the American people–which was to enact meaningful, reasonable, gun safety measures. The gun lobby simply won.”

This is flat-out ridiculous on its face.

Sandy Hook gunman Adam Lanza stole the guns he used to massacre all those people. Restricting magazines and mandating a more onerous background check did not and would not have ever stopped Lanza or any other person attempting to pull off a massacre with a gun.

I don’t think we are a “nation of cowards,” Holder said, but “members of Congress need to have a little more backbone and stand up to what is a distinct minority, even within the NRA.”

Holder is also wrong about the will of the America people. An October 2014 Gallup poll found that 47 percent of Americans don’t support the enactment of more restrictive gun laws. Gallup saw a similar sentiment the year before.

Less than half the country supports Congress passing gun laws that won’t stop a majority of gun crimes. No wonder Obama isn’t signing gun legislation into law.

The truth is, America is, and has always been, pro guns.

People are less likely to be swept up by the emotional title wave that a horrific event like Sandy Hook can create when given the chance to think through the suggested reforms.

What would help save lives and prevent future Sandy Hooks? Allowing teachers and school administrators the opportunity to carry a gun on them when they are in the classroom. Give them the proper training. Employ out-of-work servicemen and women to patrol the halls of schools. Let’s eliminate the dangerous “gun free” zones making our schools an easy target for psychopaths.

That would make a difference which is exactly why liberal Democrats would never support those reforms.

Allowing people to defend themselves? No way. Compassion to a liberal is making it illegal for a teacher to have a gun and defend his or her classroom if they needed to.

And they wonder why they keep losing elections.
