Unless you’re the .0000000001% of people who don’t use or have access to the internet, you’ve probably been on the receiving end of a pop-up message alerting you that you now have a virus on your computer and MUST call a toll-free number immediately.
10 out of 10 times, this a typical internet scam, and the phone numbers will lead you right to them.Jack Vale, comedian and youtuber, decided he’s had enough and took immediate action and gave the scammers a ring…and we’re so glad he did.
Vale called and pretended to be an elderly couple that didn’t understand the internet at all. The scammer, of course, was very happy to help and for nearly $400 and eight hours of exclusive access to their computer, the couple would be cleaned of their virus problem.
Eventually, Vale came clean to the scam artist. She was not amused.
