• Corrupt Congressman Aaron Schock Resigns In Disgrace

U.S. Congressman Aaron Schock (R-Ill) is resigning from his congressional seat amid reports surrounding his use (abuse) of taxpayer funds.

“Today, I am announcing my resignation as a Member of the United States House of Representatives effective March 31st…I do this with a heavy heart. Serving the people of the 18th District is the highest and greatest honor I have had in my life,” Schock said in a statement.

Schock, 33, is resigning after a controversy erupted over his unethical spending of campaign contributions, and lavish lifestyle that made him a laughing stock on the Hill and throughout the country. For instance, as Politico notes, Schock erroneously billed the federal government and his campaign for 90,000 miles more in travel reimbursements than his vehicle’s odometer registered at the time he owned it. Other reports indicate that chartered a private jet to attend a Chicago Bears game… with funds allocated from his congressional office!

Questions arose from a Washington Post report back in February about how he hired an interior designer to make his office resemble the dining room of the hit PBS show “Downton Abbey,” which cost his constituents a reported $40,000. Schock repaid the expense, but only after he was questioned about it.

And that’s not even the half of it:

“There are also outstanding questions about whether Schock improperly accepted gifts, including a trip to London in 2011 that included multi-course dinners with Prince Charles and a personally engraved plate worth hundreds of dollars.”

Schock’s decision to resign came before he consulted with Republican Leadership or even his staff.

Note to readers: Just because he had an “R” next to his name, did not make him a conservative. He wanted to live the high-life on the taxpayer dime. He lacked principles and integrity. But the reality show that I’m sure he’ll spin this coup de grâce into will be entertaining nonetheless.
