• Lib Editor Likens Mike Pence To Segregationist George Wallace

During an interview Monday on CNN’s New Day, the over-his-head Daily Beast editor John Avlon compared Indiana Governor Mike Pence to Alabama Governor George Wallace. Yes, the segregationist George Wallace.

“These politicians are terrified to vote against this because they don’t want to be seen…they aren’t Christian enough and aren’t conservative enough. At the same time, they don’t want to say they’re in favor of bigotry. So what you get is that incredibly awkward stonewalling by Mike Pence yesterday, where he cannot answer a simple question whether or not the State of Indiana should be able to discriminate against gays and lesbians,” said Avlon, who added “This puts him in the same position as – as – as George Wallace was a generation ago, by saying that – you know what? I’m not in favor of segregation. I never have been. This is about states’ rights and the Constitution.”

Avlon continued by discussing potential problems for Gov. Pence who is heavily rumored to be eyeing a run for the White House in 2016 by saying, “there’s this kind of pandering to the outer reaches of politics, it ends up having unintended consequences that derail national ambitions. Pence’s blowback is going to be significant.”

Of course, Avlon forgot to mention that the Indiana law, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, basically mirrors federal legislation that was signed into law in 1993 by former President Bill Clinton, and was passed unanimously by the House of Representatives, after Rep. Chuck Schumer sponsored it.

Funny how they forget about these things.

Actually, Avlon’s analogy is almost correct, but not in the way he intended it to be. The racial segregation of the Jim Crow era was enforced by the State; and today, libs like Avlon want the State to discriminate against Christians because of their religious beliefs.

The common thread? Bigotry enforced by the State.
