State Department Deputy Spokeswoman Marie Harf is not having a good year.
Harf made headlines when she said that the root cause of people joining ISIS is lack of jobs, followed by her doubling down on that assertion by saying that her comments were too “nuanced” for some.On Tuesday during a press conference she was given some tough questions regarding Hillary Clinton’s usage of her personal email account while serving as Secretary of State, which is illegal, and Harf noticeably got flustered.
“How do you manage security on an account that you don’t control?”
“Well, I don’t know, you’d have to ask her,” Harf responded.
She continued by saying that Clinton had used the same practice that previous secretaries had used, suggesting that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had done the same thing. That same reporter, however, had reached out to Rice and was told that she (Rice) had only used her government-issued email account.
Harf continued to get flustered, even dropping papers and rambling at times.Watch the full exchange above.
