A recent recruitment video released by Islamic State militants shows two men communicating a message using sign language.
The video has lead one expert to conclude that ISIS is now reaching out and looking for just about anyone to join their ranks, regardless of disability. The ISIS video “represents an attempt by the group to recruit other physically or otherwise impaired individuals, as well as demonstrates the multifaceted responsibilities of those in its ranks,” said Alex Kassirer, a researcher at Flashpoint Intelligence, a global security firm.
This new ISIS development comes just as it’s being reported that the Nigerian-based Islamists group Boko Haram has announced its newly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.
An audio statement released over the weekend confirmed Boko Haram’s news.
Some experts say ISIS is weakening, infighting is rotting the group from the inside, and America-backed forces are causing a rapid decrease in the Islamic State’s membership. However, new research also shows evidence that ISIS’s online radicalism is thriving.
