• The Disgraceful Democrats Skipping Netanyahu’s Speech

Geopolitical perils–from the rise of a murderous Islamic Caliphate to persistent Palestinian-backed attacks from Hezbollah to a near-nuclear Iran–have compelled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before Congress about the dangers facing our closest ally in the Middle East.

The Obama administration has not supported Netanyahu’s speech, to say the least.

But Obama has never really supported Israel or Netanyahu–I refer you to the long list of insults that have been used by a senior Obama official to describe Netanyahu: “recalcitrant, myopic, reactionary, obtuse, blustering, pompous, Aspergery,” and most notedly “chickenshit,” according to Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic.

However, those are mere words. It’s actions on the part of some Democrats that is beyond embarrassing.

Again, the very existence of Israel, the only Democratic nation in the Middle East, is at stake. But that isn’t stopping several House Democrats from skipping Netanyahu’s speech to Congress.

Here the complete list, so far, of lawmakers taking their toys and going home:

    Sen. Tim Kaine (D., Va.)
    Sen. Patrick Leahy (D., Vt.)
    Sen. Brian Schatz (D., Hawaii)
    Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.)

    Rep. John Lewis (D., Ga.)
    Rep. Keith Ellison (D., Minn.)
    Rep. James Clyburn (D., S.C.)
    Rep. Peter DeFazio (D., Ore.)
    Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D., N.C.)
    Rep. Betty McCollum (D., Minn.)
    Rep. John Yarmouth (D., Ky.)
    Rep. Chellie Pingree (D., Maine)
    Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D., Ore.)
    Rep. Steve Cohen (D., Tenn.)
    Rep. Diana DeGette (D., Colo.)
    Rep. Charles Rangel (D., N.Y.)
    Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D., Ill.)
    Rep. Gregory Meeks (D., N.Y.)
    Rep. André Carson (D., Ind.)
    Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D., Texas)
    Rep. Cedric Richmond (D., La.)
    Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D., Ill.):
    Rep. John Yarmuth (D., Ky.)
    Rep. Jim McDermott (D., Wash.)
Rep. Danny K. Davis (D., Ill.)

If you think the list above isn’t disgraceful enough, Obama is refusing to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu during his U.S. trip.

But Obama is gearing up to give Iranian leaders almost everything they want in a hotly contested nuclear deal that Israel vehemently opposes.

Despite all the Democratic hate he’s receiving, Benjamin Netanyahu’s popularity among Americans is at near-record levels according to a recent Gallup poll.

The poll released Monday found that 45 percent view Netanyahu favorably, while 24 percent view him unfavorably. In 2012, just 35 percent of Americans viewed Netanyahu favorably.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will deliver his speech to Congress Tuesday at invitation of John Boehner.
