• Former Democratic Lawmaker Attempts to Assault Govenor with Jar of Vaseline

Maine’s Republican governor Paul LePage was nearly attacked with a jar of Vaseline thrown at him by the former Democratic state Rep. Joanne Twomey, during a town-hall meeting about the state’s budget Thursday night.

“Oh yes, I threw the jar at the stage,” Twomey told CBS. She said she confronted the governor because his budget hurts the poor, she claims.

Twomey, who served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006, stormed the stage during the meeting shouting at LePage and was hampered by security before she could forcefully throw the jar at the governor. She proceeded to toss the jar of Vaseline on to the stage.

She chose a jar of Vaseline to throw because of the governors reference in 2013 about Democratic state Sen. Troy Jackson. LePage said at the time that Mr. Jackson, “claims to be for the people but he’s the first one to give it to the people without providing Vaseline.”

The forum abruptly ended shortly after Twomey made her appearance.

The exchange begins about two minutes into the video.
