Law School Students Can Skip Exams To Help Baltimore Protesters

University of the District of Columbia Dean Shelley Broderick told students they can defer their exams if they go help protesters after students expressed concern about the riots in Baltimore.

Broderick sent a letter to all students saying she wanted to support the activism happening in Baltimore and said, given its proximity to D.C, it was of particular concern to the students.

“The energy and commitment of those involved in the movement is inspiring and we want the Law School to be part of it,” she wrote. (Professor And CNN Commentator: ‘We Should BE STRATEGIC In How We Riot’)

In order for students to qualify for the exemption they will need to connect with a legal assistance organization and develop a plan to provide for how they will help that organization.

Broderick also encouraged law students to organize a teach-in about the police accountability movement, which she referred to as “the civil rights issue of this time.”
