• Marvel Makes Original X-Men Character ‘Iceman’ Gay

Even beloved childhood superheroes are victim of the radical left’s political correctness agenda.

The legendary X-Men character Bobby Drake, aka Iceman, reveals that he is gay in the “All-New X-Men” #40, which debuts Wednesday in stores and online.

Pages from the new book show Bobby Drake talking to his pal Jean Grey, also an X-Men original, about how he thinks his teacher Magik is hot. Jean, a mind-reading mutant, asks Bobby why he calls women “hot,” when she knows he is gay.

“There are thousands, if not millions, of stories of people who, for many different reasons, felt the need to hide their sexuality,” the All-New X-Men writer Brian Michael Bendis wrote in an email statement about his decision to change the character.

Bendis explained that Iceman’s storyline will continue to evolve in future books and that the decision to make the character a gay man was in keeping with contemporary social dialogue around lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues in an attempt to draw a new generation of readers.

The Iceman depicted in this new installment is the teenage version of the character displaced in time. The older, present-day Iceman that audiences are familiar with from the series, identifies as straight.

“The X-Men, with the conceit of time travel, give us a fascinating platform in which to examine such personal journeys,” Bendis said. “This is just the first little chapter of a much larger story that will be told.”

Iceman’s declaration breaks fresh ground because that the character was one of the original “X-Men” created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963.

Bendis further shared his thoughts on Twitter about the attention surrounding the story when it leaked on Tuesday:
