• Mayor de Blasio Won’t Endorse his Former Boss Hillary Clinton for President

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio took swipes at his former boss Hillary Clinton Sunday and refrained from giving her his endorsement, despite years of the Clintons’ crucial political support.

de Blasio was asked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” if he was endorsing the Democratic front-runner and he outright said, “No”.

“Not until I see — and, again, I would say this about any candidate — until I see an actual vision of where they want to go,” he said.“We need to see the substance” and a plan that includes “the willingness to tax the wealthy.”

Hillary Clinton has a “very progressive history” when it comes to her work on behalf of children and families and in trying to achieve health care reform in the 1990s, he said, but right now it’s important for Clinton to hear the stories of Americans who are hurting “and I think it’ll make her a stronger candidate.”

The Clinton’s, de Blasio’s former bosses and mentors, gave him one of his earliest entrees into government. The mayor served in Bill Clinton’s administration as a regional director at the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, managed Hillary’s winning 2000 campaign for senate and backed her losing 2008 campaign for the White House. Bill Clinton even swore de Blasio in as mayor.

de Blasio snubbed Clinton after her camp got annoyed at him over his plan to travel to Iowa, home of the first-in-the-nation presidential nominating contest, this week to discuss income inequality and issues he believes should be part of the 2016 race.

Clinton loyalists blasted the mayor for daring to enter her spotlight.
