• National Mall TRASHED After Lefty ‘Earth Day’ Celebration

The Global Citizen Earth Day, which was held on the Washington Monument grounds, was billed as “an event to inspire citizens to take action to protect our planet and its people,” but instead left behind a big mess for the city to clean up.

The “earth-friendly” message was undercut after thousands of attendees to the Earth Day celebration in Washington, D.C., this weekend overflowed recycle bins and trash cans and left their waste strewn about the National Mall.

The hoards of environmentally conscious citizens descended upon the National Mall to hear performers like Mary J. Blige, Usher, Fall Out Boy and No Doubt wax poetic about ending extreme poverty by 2030 and the never-ending fight against climate change.

The event was powered partly by solar power, but aside from the purely abstract concept of “raising awareness,” any positive environmental impact the show had was apparently balanced by the dozens of food trucks lining the streets selling greased up sludge in non-biodegradable packaging, the artists and attendees traveling to and from the concert (likely in private jets), the litter piles left behind and god knows how many “tons” of human waste.

Crowds here in DC to fight #ClimateChange! (They’re just bahind the piles of trash.)

But hey, it’s the status quo for earth day hippies, dating back to the first day in 1970.
