• Rubio: ‘I Like Nicki Minaj, and Pitbull Is a Friend’

Rockstar freshman U.S. Senator from Florida Marco Rubio announced he’s running for the Republican presidential nomination last night at the iconic Freedom Tower in Miami, Florida.

Already reports of Rubio’s personal life are popping up. And one of the more interesting aspects of the 43-year-old first generation Cuban’s interests are his musical tastes.

During an interview with ABC News Rubio said, “I think Jay-Z needs to get informed. One of his heroes is Che Guevara. Che Guevara was a racist.”

Rubio told GQ that “Hip-hop’s 30 years old now, and it’s crossed over and sort of become indistinguishable from pop music in general. You know, many people say Nicki Minaj is a rapper, but she’s also a singer.”

“I like Nicki Minaj, I think she’s very talented,” Rubio added of the New York rapper/singer during an interview with MSNBC.

Rubio also has love for pop artist Pitbull, who, similarly to the senator, was born to Cuban expatriates.

“Pitbull’s become a friend and someone that we’re very proud of,” Rubio said in the interview above with MSNBC.

    So there you have it.

In the coming months we’ll be able to hear Senator Rubio passionately explain and defend his positions on issues from the sanctity of life to tax policy to trade to education, the military, and, immigration.

So it’s good to see the man be humanized a bit before the Democratic media machine begins to tear him apart.
