It’s a news narrative that’s gaining oxygen, ruled by headlines like “Could Congress derail the Iran nuclear deal?”
And that’s from the far-left MSNBC.Nevertheless, the proposed Iran nuke deal that is being called Obama’s signature foreign policy initiative is now facing fierce pushback from members of Obama’s own party.
Bucking Obama’s big Iran deal is none other than Senator Chuck Schumer.
“This is a very serious issue that deserves careful consideration, and I expect to have a classified briefing in the near future. I strongly believe Congress should have the right to disapprove any agreement and I support the Corker bill which would allow that to occur,” Schumer told POLITICO.
Schumer, the slimy but powerful Democratic Senator from New York, holds a considerable amount of sway in the Senate. So his opposition to Obama’s preferred process of an Iran deal approval without Congress, is a major blow to Obama’s agenda.
With Schumer and more than a dozen other key Democratic Senators now supporting Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker’s (R-Tenn.) bill mandating that Congress approval of Obama’s Iran deal, it’s hard to see Obama getting the agreement he’d hoped for.Meanwhile, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu still has several questions he’d like answers too concerning what he calls a flawed Iranian nuke deal.
