• Baltimore Is A Borderline War Zone Since The Freddie Gray Riots

Fifty people have been shot in Baltimore following the riots that started April 28, an average of three to four shot per day.

Besides the damaged buildings sprinkled across the battered city, Baltimore has seen a spike in shootings since the riots in late April that set much of the city on fire and injured several the Baltimore Sun reports.

This year at least 87 people have been killed in Baltimore, 22 more than the same time last year, with non fatal shootings up about 50 percent, the Baltimore Sun reports.

The violence comes in the aftermath of destructive riots that left the city’s neighborhoods and reputation damaged. The Freddie Gray case, which sparked the riots, is ongoing. Baltimore City State Attorney Marilyn Mosby helped quell rioting when the prosecutor charged six officers in the man’s death.

Experts, however, believe the charges may be too harsh for the prosecutor to get convictions. Since the charges, the prosecutor has taken heat for allegations of a conflict of interest.

A failure to convict could lead to violence worse than what Baltimore has seen thus far.
