  • CBS: As New Secret Email Emerges, Secret Service Shield Hillary From the Press

Sometimes it’s hard to know just how much voters actually care about the fact that Hillary Clinton isn’t taking very many serious injuries from a press corp. that follows her around every waking moment of the day.

Nevertheless, “Hillary hasn’t taken a question from the press in XYZ days” is quickly becoming a meme that’s going to negatively affect her presidential campaign.

More importantly, optics in politics matter most. And, thusly, perception is reality. And even the elite legacy press is starting to notice Hillary’s penchant for stiff-arming the media, even as her old email scandal reemerges.

Hillary Clinton “hasn’t answered a question from a reporter in 28 days now despite the fact that she is followed by a pack of journalists everywhere she goes,” said CBS reporter Nancy Cordes.

“At events, she is shielded from reporters by Secret Service and careful staging,” Cordes added.

Hillary may believe that her strategy of dodging the press and focusing strictly on the voters won’t hurt her. That might be true if she didn’t have scandal after scandal popping up in just about every media mention of her campaign. And according to CNN correspondent Jeff Zeleney, Iowa voters are beginning to think Hillary’s hiding something.

If ever there was an understatement, that’d be it.
