• Liberal Congressmen Call Out Hillary for Her Silence on Trade

The epic food fight raging right now between the Obama administration and several anti-trade liberal Democratic Senators just got a little bit crazier as liberal Congressmen are now appearing on TV and are putting Hillary Clinton on the spot for her silence on Obama’s important trade deal.

Days before a majority of Democratic Senators defied Obama and voted to block trade measures from proceeding on the Senate floor, House Speaker John  Boehner tauntingly said Obama “needs Clinton’s help” to strengthen the Democratic vote for the passage of his trade bill. And despite Obama’s unusually public support for the trade deal, Hillary Clinton has been mum on the policy.

Nevertheless, Hillary’s silence is now infuriating liberal Democratic lawmakers.

“If we’re going to win in 2016 and retain the presidency, Hillary and all the candidates running for it are going to have to be very explicit with the American people – and certainly with the Democratic base – about trade, about jobs and about wages,” Rep. Raul Grijalva, (D-AZ), said in a recent interview along with Rep. Keith Ellison, (D-MN).

“If you can’t talk explicitly about those, our base is not going to have the energy, the desire, or put a lot of hope into the candidates,” Grijalva added. “I think Hillary needs to be more explicit, I think she’s beginning to do that, and we look forward to more detail, because I think that only helps us into ’16.”

Hillary’s silence on the trade deal is awfully interesting because, as thehill’s A.B. Stoddard notes, “As secretary of State, Clinton supported the pact as a foreign policy tool in the U.S. pivot toward Asia, once characterizing the TPP as the “gold standard” of trade agreements.”

But, Stoddard adds, “Now that she is running for the presidency, she is hedging, trying to buy time with anti-trade liberals in her party.”

“I believe that Hillary Clinton cares about working people,” Rep. Keith Ellison said, but “it would be helpful if she were more definitive on the transpacific partnership.”

    No, Keith. You’re wrong.

Hillary Clinton cares about Hillary Clinton. She’ll do whatever she has to do to win this presidential election. And if that means lying about or keeping quite on a policy she heavily supported in the past, then that’s exactly what she’s going to do.
