• Rand Paul Super PAC Unleashes Fiery WWE-Style Ad

A pro-Rand Paul super PAC released the first attack ad of the 2016 GOP presidential primary on Friday slamming Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham for their stances on government surveillance.

“Get ready, America, for the biggest brawl for liberty of the century!” a WWE-style announcer screams as a cartoon of a screeching bald eagle flies across the screen.

“Defender of freedom, Senator Rand Paul!” the announcer yells. The ad was funded by America’s Liberty PAC, a super PAC that has been sanctioned by Paul.

The explosive one-minute ad mimics the aggressive style of a wrestling event promo and promotes the gathering of the U.S. Senate this Sunday to debate Patriot Act as key provisions of the law are set to expire and highlights the divide in the Senate over these expiring provisions.

The ad pits a photo-shopped picture of Paul’s face on a bodybuilder against President Obama, as the narrator describes Paul as the “defender of Freedom” and Obama as “the head of the Washington spy machine.”

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell summoned senators to return this Sunday—one day before the programs expire completely– after failing a week ago to negotiate a deal to temporarily extend or reboot key national-intelligence programs, including the collection of bulk metadata.

The NSA program has been one of Rand Paul’s signature issues on the presidential campaign trail. Paul fund-raised off of his self-proclaimed filibuster last week, with his campaign selling “filibuster starter packs” during his 10-and-a-half-hour speech.

Sen. John McCain accuses him of blocking the deal to drum up support for his campaign.

The video goes after Obama’s “so-called conservative accomplices.”

Fellow 2016 presidential contender Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is labeled the “capitulating Canadian,” a dig against the fact that Cruz supports a compromise bill called the USA Freedom Act, legislation that would reform the NSA domestic phone surveillance program but still reauthorizes portions of the Patriot Act.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham is portrayed in “trying to read your emails while doing donuts in a 1997 Geo Metro” that catches fire.
