• WATCH: ISIS Thugs Burn Down Iraq’s LARGEST Oil Refinery

The Iraqi arm of the Islamic State upped the ante on being the world’s worst scumbags over the weekend after they torched Iraq’s largest oil refinery at Beiji.

The refinery is roughly 200km from Baghdad, where ISIS fighters have been waging a multiple-front campaign to both gain and maintain control.

Massive clouds of black smoke could be seen above the refinery for miles. The footage in the video clip above captured the horror as it unfolded in real time.

Colonel Maan Al-Sa’eedi, commander of the second federal police brigade, told Al Jazeera: “ISIL have rigged Beiji with booby trapped trenches, sand barracks and road side bombs. We are hoping that our forces will overcome these obstacles, the enemy is desperate and lost manpower and firepower and therefore is trying different methods to halt our advance.”

This latest ISIS attack comes just days after the murderous group seized the historic city of Palmyra in Syria and about a week after they captured the city of Ramadi in Iraq.

“ISIL seems to have the advantage,” Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman said according to the Wall Street Journal. “They will use this for their own propaganda purposes, but it doesn’t give them a significant tactical advantage.”

Meanwhile the White House is content with downplaying several of the west’s latest military loses, like the one in Ramadi, calling them “setbacks.
