  • Mark Ruffalo Tells ‘Ignorant’ People Who Aren’t Feminists To ‘Kiss My Ass’

Actor Mark Ruffalo has some choice words for people who say the aren’t feminists.

The Avengers actor, who plays the Hulk, explained in a post on his Tumblr page, entitled “My response to the ‘I am not a feminist’ internet phenomenon,” that he believes rejecting feminism is a “slap in the face” to the equal rights movement.

“First of all, it’s clear you don’t know what feminism is. But I’m not going to explain it to you. You can google it. To quote an old friend, ‘I’m not your feminist babysitter,” he began.

“You’re insulting every woman who was forcibly restrained in a jail cell with a feeding tube down her throat for your right to vote, less than 100 years ago,” he wrote. “You’re undermining every woman who fought to make marital rape a crime (it was legal until 1993).”

“In short, kiss my ass you ignorant little jerks,” he concluded.

Originally posted in March, Ruffalo’s post has gained attention following a Reddit AMA.

This is not the first time Ruffalo has spoken out against critics of feminism.

He wrote an open letter in 2013 detailing how his mother was forced to have an illegal abortion, which he said showed women were considered second class citizens. His letter was read outside of an abortion clinic.

Ruffalo partnered with The Center of Reproductive Rights in January 2014 to create a 2-minute story detailing why he supports abortion rights for the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
