• MSNBC Reporter Asks Muppet Miss Piggy: ‘Are You Pro-Choice?’

Miss Piggy received a Sackler Center First Award on Wednesday from the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum .

“Moi is a feminist!” the famed fictional Muppet character publicly announced during the award ceremony.

“Miss Piggy embodies overtly all the characteristics that women need to have in order to really succeed,” the founder of the awards, Elizabeth Sackler, told MSNBC. “We’re talking about tenacity, strength, intelligence, strategy, a sense of humor… She also believes that who you are is all you need to be and [to] really go for it.”

Miss Piggy and feminist Gloria Steinem sat down with reporter Irin Carmon in a follow-up interview on MSNBC’s “The Rundown With José Díaz-Balart” Friday.

Carmon quizzed the beloved children’s character on its views on abortion.

    “Are you pro-choice?” she asked.

    “I’m pro-everything,” Miss Piggy gushed.

She then asked the puppet why she is not Ms. Piggy?

“I’ve spent so much money marketing myself, I think it would be unwise,” Miss Piggy replied.

“I think the idea is, you can call yourself anything you want,” Steinem, who co-founded “Ms.” Magazine, said. As for Piggy’s feminism, Steinem said, “She understands you can bat your eyelashes and do karate chops. People think being a feminist is about being more like men. It’s not.”

“So what is feminism about?” Caron asked.

“I think you’re looking at it,” said Miss Piggy, referring to herself and Steinem. “We’re tough, strong, intelligent, and yeah, beautiful, inside and out.”

Kermit the Frog tweeted an image of Piggy in conversation with Steinem.

“Quick shot of @RealMissPiggy and @GloriaSteinem in conversation at the Sackler Center First Awards,” someone purporting to be Kermit wrote. “So proud!!”

Miss Piggy joins other big-names in receiving the award including Associate Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (ret.), Toni Morrison, Anita Hill , Susan Stroman and Julie Taymor, to name just a few.

The Walt Disney Company purchased the Muppets in early 2004, originally owned by The Jim Henson Company.

So…Miss Piggy, who ironically is voiced by a dude, supports the murder of unborn babies. Perhaps she would have exclaimed to be “pro-everything,” if she were asked “Are you pro-life,” but of course reporters didn’t ask that.

What’s next? Is Kermit going to reveal he wants a sex change and was born in the wrong body? Is Gonzo an atheist?
