  • One Time Ted Cruz Watched Porn With Supreme Court Justices

In his upcoming book, “A Time for Truth,” Texas Sen. Ted Cruz describes the time he watched pornography with Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist and Sandra Day O’Connor. Juicy.

The Supreme Court was in the process of ruling on a case that challenged the laws regulating online porn when librarians were forced to set up tutorials to show the clerks how easy it is to find porn online, The Washington Post reports.

Cruz wrote about how the librarian typed in the word “cantaloupe” and “a slew of explicit images showed up onscreen.”

“As we watched these graphic pictures fill our screens, wide-eyed, no one said a word,” he wrote. “Except for Justice O’Connor, who lowered her head, squinted slightly, and muttered, ‘Oh, my.'”

Cruz’s new book also created a bit of a riff between Cruz and Republican strategist Karl Rove over a disputed conversation the two had back when Cruz was running to become Texas’s attorney general.

In the book, Cruz claims that Rove made an angry phone call to Cruz after Cruz asked former president George H.W. Bush to endorse his run for attorney general. Cruz wrote that Rove said the former president was too old to make such an endorsement, and bullied Cruz into downplaying the endorsement.

Rove shot back at Cruz, though, saying in a post on Medium saying that asking the former president for a contribution put him in an awkward spot, because the incumbent attorney general, Greg Abbott, was appointed to the Texas Supreme Court by his son, then-governor George W. Bush.

“Mr. Cruz’s account is wrong in other particulars,” Rove wrote. “Starting with an implication I would question the judgment of one of the finest men I have ever known, President Bush 41, whom I went to work for when I was 22 years old and have revered ever since.”
