• Press Told There Will Be ‘NO Opportunities to Interview Hillary Clinton’

A press release from Texas Southern University warned reporters attending Clinton’s speech at the university on Thursday that they will have no chance to interview the Democratic presidential nominee.

A Bloomberg correspondent posted the university confirmation note from TSU to Twitter on Wednesday, which stated with big, bold red letters stating that Clinton would not be answering questions from students or those in attendance.

“There will be NO opportunities to interview Hillary Clinton,” the press release reads. “Her speech will be her interview.”

The correspondent later tweeted that the language in the statement was not approved by the Clinton campaign, according to a Clinton spokesman.

Even if the instruction to not accept questions came from Texas Southern University, the absurdity of the statement coincides with Clinton’s general attitude toward the press. Clinton’s refusal to answer questions aggravates reporters at almost every turn.

She hasn’t sat down for a formal interview with any media organization since her campaign’s launch in April (although now her campaign apparently “officially” launches on June 13 in New York.)  She audaciously got away with not answering a single question from the media for 28 days, until being practically pried to answer questions from the press in Iowa last month. The Clinton camp recently suggested that questions from voters were a substitute for questions from reporters.

Clinton will receive the first inaugural Barbara Jordan Public-Private Leadership Award and talk about voting rights at TSU in Houston after attending fundraisers in Dallas and Austin.
