• Sen. Mark Kirk Calls Lindsey Graham ‘Bro with No Ho’

Republican Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois was caught on a hot mic at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing Thursday joking that his colleague Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham is a “bro with no ho.”

“I’ve been joking with Lindsey,” Senator Kirk was overheard saying in reference to the South Carolina Republican’s longtime bachelor status. “Did you see that? He’s going to have a rotating first lady. He’s a bro with no ho.”

Graham recently joked that he’ll have more than one first lady once he gets to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The assessment of Graham’s love life immediately went viral.

Sen. Kirk told reporters he regretted calling Sen. Lindsey Graham “a bro with no ho,” but he did not explain or clarify his remark.

Graham came to the defense of his colleague.

“Sen. Kirk said he regrets the comments,” Graham said in a statement. “I believe that is the appropriate response.”

Graham’s bachelorhood has been much-discussed since the launch of his presidential campaign. He has never married and does not have children, a rarity for a major politician and especially for one running for president.

“I feel real comfortable with who I am and the life I’ve lived,” Graham said in an earlier interview. “The last time I checked I didn’t see a sign on the White House that said, ‘single people need not apply.’”

The Senator has also been hounded by gay rumors since his first runs for Congress in the ’90s. The New York Times Magazine asked him about it in a big profile earlier this year, to which Graham responded, “I ain’t gay.”
