• Trump: Oprah Is ‘Terrific’ But I Was Joking About Making Her VP

Donald Trump clarified on Wednesday that he does not want Oprah Winfrey to be his running mate after all, even though he considers the fellow billionaire a good friend.

George Stephanopoulos interviewed me and he said, ‘would you take Oprah?'” Trump said on “Fox & Friends”. “I said of course I would.”

But Trump said the media has taken off with the latest “news” even though the question was posed jokingly in reference to an interview he gave years ago to CNN talk show host Larry King.

“Give me a break; she’s a friend of mine,” he said. “She had me on her last show. She had myself and all of my children on the show. She’s a terrific woman. He said that as a joke. Would you do it? I said of course, she’s great. All of a sudden, people make a big deal.”

Trump also doubled down controversial statements he made during his announcement speech about Mexico “not sending their best and finest” to the United States.

“I only tell the truth,” he said. “We’re getting drug dealers, sex offenders — I spoke to border guards last week. They said what’s coming into this country is not their best, believe me.”

And while he said he’s sure some “good” people are coming across the border, Mexicans are coming by “walking past security, no checks, no balances.”

Trump was asked during the interview what he thought about Charles Krauthammer claiming he is a candidate who should not be taken seriously.

“The mainstream media who wish the Republicans no good will lavish upon him enormous coverage,” Krauthammer said.

“As far as Charles Krauthammer, I’m not a fan of his,” Trump replied. “I think he is a highly overrated pundit. He’s wrong on so many things, including the Iraq war, I’ve just never been a fan and obviously he knows that and I guess he’s not a fan of mine and that’s okay. All I do is I speak the truth.”

“When I watch a George Will or a Charles Krauthammer, you know, I’ve watched them for years, they’re losers. They’re just losers. They sit there, they haven’t done anything,” Trump added.
