• UNDER ATTACK: Man Assaults Dallas Police Headquarters With Gun, Explosives

An attack on police headquarters Saturday in Dallas has the city on high alert.

Bomb tech officers are attempting to neutralize a van believed to be full of explosives after the man driving the van carried out an attack on Dallas’ police headquarters.

Police say the man who put explosives outside Dallas’ police headquarters before spraying the building with bullets was fatally shot, CNN reports.

The man began his attack just after midnight, using a shotgun and assault rifle to pour bullets into the building and police vehicles.

Incredibly, one staff member who was at the front desk got up to get a soda just before the attack, likely saving their life. No one has been reported hurt by the attack.

“We believe this suspect meant to kill officers,” Dallas Police Chief David Brown told reporters. “We barely survived the intentions of this suspect.” The man reportedly called 911 after shooting up the headquarters and went on a rant blaming police for causing him to lose custody of his child.

After the attack, officers chased the man in his white van to a suburb where snipers then fatally shot him through the front windshield of the van. A police bomb robot picked up an explosive package containing pipe bombs outside the Jack Evans headquarters at 4:30 a.m., and as the robot picked it up, the bombs exploded, police said.

Police say all packages at the headquarters have been cleared.

The man called police and identified himself as James Boulware, but that has not been confirmed.

This attack comes just after the continued police controversy over the McKinney police officer who drew a gun at a pool party full of mostly black teenagers. McKinney is just outside of Dallas.
