Jon Bon Jovi is a hardcore Democrat. Chris Christie announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination Tuesday.
So why did Bon Jovi allow Christie to use his music at Christie’s announcement event just a day after Bon Jovi hosted a lavish fundraiser for Hillary Clinton?
The answer is simple.
Unlike so many Republicans in the past, Christie asked (probably politely).
And Bon Jovi gave his blessing.
The singer told Mother Jones his decision wasn’t based on any political leanings.
“My friendships are apolitical. And, yes, I absolutely gave him permission to use my songs,” he said.

Christie and Bon Jovi became good friends during the clean-up and relief effort that followed Hurricane Sandy, which devastated the New Jersey Coast. Since then, the two have been good buds.
