Several congressional Democrats are demanding that Attorney General Loretta Lynch investigate the group that exposed Planned Parenthood staff discussing the sale of aborted fetal tissue.
Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) released a letter Tuesday sent to Lynch and the California Attorney General Kamala Harris demanding they probe the Center for Medical Progress for the sting operation. The letter was signed by three other Democrats, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (NY), Rep. Zoe Lofgren (CA) and Rep. Yvette Clarke (CA).
They are argue that the video violates federal and state laws because it was filmed without consent by actors who used fake ID.
Schakowsky contends that exposing Planned Parenthoods scheme to harvest and sell the body parts of late-term aborted babies is an “effort to undermine a woman’s right to choose.”
“This is a new low, even for anti-abortion activists who will stop at nothing in their effort to undermine a woman’s right to choose,” Schakowsky said in a statement. “I believe the Center for Medical Progress may have broken the law in developing and executing this unbelievably elaborate and troubling scheme, and all Americans should have concerns about that. I hope that [U.S.] Att orneys General Lynch and [California Attorney General Kamala] Harris will investigate this case.”
