The GOP Establishment that is lecturing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump about his “tone” is running to the mainstream media to attack Republican voters.
Rick Wilson, a top Establishment Republican media strategist says Trump’s supporters are “clowns.”“The circus is almost over,” Rick Wilson told the leftwing Politico Wednesday. “My advice to Trump fans? Don’t be the last clown out of the tent. “
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) also smeared Trump supporters this week. He told the left-leaning New Yorker on Monday that Trump “fired up the crazies.”
Trump’s fellow presidential contenders are also relentlessly blasting Trump.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R.-Fla.) has said Trump has “no class.” Rick Perry called Trump a “cancer” to the GOP and a “circus side show.” Lindsey Graham called Trump a “jackass.”
The billionaire real estate magnate is currently garnering support from 25 percent of the GOP base and is leading every recent national poll.Establishment Republicans have lost the popular vote in 4 of the last 5 presidential elections.
The Republican establishment’s reference to one fourth of the Republican constituency, who comprise the Republican Party’s most loyal voters, as clowns and crazies is a great strategy to winning the election.
