Man Walks Into VA Clinic, Douses Himself In Gas, Lights Himself On Fire

Kliff Donald Speaker, a 46-year-old man, walked into the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center Tuesday morning and tried to light himself—and the hospital—on fire.

To accelerate the process, Speaker doused himself in gasoline at the facility, Newsnet5 reports.

For now, the Louis Stokes facility is closed, although hospital officials released a statement saying the facility will reopen Wednesday.

“The safety and security of our Veterans and staff is of the utmost importance and all Veteran patients and staff remained safe during the incident,” the statement read.

It is unknown whether Speaker was injured or not in the incident, but police have now arrested and placed him in custody for aggravated arson.
