• GOT HIM: Man Who Allegedly Killed Memphis Cop Turns Himself In To Police

The man suspected of killing a Memphis cop turned himself in Monday, ending a two-day long manhunt.

Bank robber turned alleged cop killer Tremaine Wilbourn arrived with his family at a federal building late Monday after police identified him as the suspect in the fatal shooting of police officer Sean Bolton, NBC News reports.

“You have to understand this has been an exhaustive search,” Memphis Director of Police Services Toney Armstrong told reporters during a news conference. “I think he felt the walls closing in and thought it would be in his best interest to turn himself in.”

Bolton had worked at the department since 2010. On the night of his death, Bolton saw an illegally parked 2002 Mercedes-Benz Saturday night around 9 p.m.

Police say he approached the vehicle and likely interrupted a drug deal. A struggle broke out between the passenger and Bolton, and the passenger fired several shots at Bolton, killing him.

The passenger and driver ran away. The driver later turned himself in before Bolton and was released without a charge.

”As I have said many times, to lose a loved one or a family member is a horrific event,” Armstrong said at a press conference Sunday. “We lost not only an officer, but a great man, a dedicated servant to our community, and a family member.”
