Gov. Scott Walker faced mockery from climate change activists Monday after he was presented with a fake check from the Koch brothers of $900 million for “climate denial.”
The Republican presidential candidate was on the campaign trail in New Hampshire visiting Theo’s Pizza Restaurant where he was confronted by a seemingly friendly group of young supporters.Tyler McFarland, who is affiliated with the climate change campaign group Action 350 and claims to be living on temporarily occupied Abenaki land, approached Walker with a sign that read “Walker 4 President.”
But as Walker posed for photos McFarland flipped the sign revealing a fake check for $900 million signed by the libertarian Koch brothers. McFarland told Walker “I’d like to present you with this check from the Koch brothers for climate denial.”
Walker refused to take the bait and continued his meet and greet with genuine fans. Action 350’s current projects include opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline and organizing “creative actions to ask candidates tough question about their plans to meet the realities of climate science and the principles of a just transition.”
