• COLLAPSE: Inside The Platform Malfunction That Took Down American Flag

The backdrop at a Hillary Clinton rally collapsed on Thursday, simulating her poll numbers which are heading south, voters’ trust and the overall downward direction of her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.

A modest crowd can be seen, in livestream footage, awaiting Clinton’s appearance in an auditorium when the black backdrop behind Clinton’s podium collapses, knocking the Wisconsin state flag and the American flag to the floor.

The crowd yelped and whipped out their smartphones to record the incident, but no one rushed to the stage to right Old Glory until event staff restored the backdrop after several minutes.

Clinton violated the Flag Code, maintained by the century-old veterans group American Legion. Section Eight of the Flag Code, titled “Respect for the Flag” states that “the flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground.”

Thursday’s act of flag desecration won’t make much difference to Clinton because she doesn’t hold high regard for the American flag. She voted against a proposed Constitutional amendment that would have outlawed the desecration of American flags back in 2006 when she was a Senator.
