  • How Clintons Paid State Department Staffer To Manage Private Email Server

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her family personally paid an employee at the State Department to maintain her private email server, a spokesman for Clinton’s campaign confirmed on Saturday.

Clinton’s arrangement ensured that taxpayer money wasn’t being spent on the server. It also allowed Clinton to retain personal control over the server.

That employee, Bryan Pagliano, was a former Clinton campaign staffer, but continued private employment with Clinton during his time at the State Department.

Pagliano, an IT specialist, informed Congress through his lawyer earlier last week that he will invoke the Fifth Amendment right to not self-incriminate himself on matters relating to the server and avoid testifying before the House Select Committee on Benghazi and other Congressional inquiries.

His decision to plead the Fifth could create a fresh opening for Clinton’s opponents in the 2016 presidential race to attack her.
