• Now Carson Jumps Trump On Faith

Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson took a swipe at his rival Donald Trump at a press conference Wednesday by questioning his faith in God.

“By humility and a fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life. And that’s a very big part of who I am, humility and a fear of the Lord. I don’t get that impression with him,” Carson said, speaking to the differences between himself and the front-runner before his rally in Southern California. “Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t get that impression.”

“Probably the biggest thing is I realized where my success has come from,” he added.  “I don’t in any way deny my faith in God. And I think that probably is a big difference here.”

Trump, not one to be attacked without hitting back, took to Twitter Wednesday night to counterpunch Carson’s assertion, noting that he is polling higher than Carson with Evangelical Christians.

Carson’s comments were likely prompted by some recent queries to Trump about his faith.

Trump said he had never sought forgiveness from God in a notable exchange at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, earlier this summer,

Moderator Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he’d ever asked God for forgiveness.

“I am not sure I have,” Trump said “I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don’t think so. I think if I do something wrong, I think I just try and make it right. I don’t bring God into that picture.”

Trump declined to name a favorite Bible verse in a recent Bloomberg TV appearance, calling his faith “personal,” though he has touted the Bible as the only book better than his own “Art of the Deal.”
